Two weeks already! The days are flying by as we are getting settled into our routine here in Narva. In those two weeks I can say with confidence that the amount of times I’ve eaten soup in my lifetime has more than doubled. We’ve also been on many a walking tour around Narva seeing everything from statues to castles to old bunkers to the grocery store. I think my favorite was Narva Castle because I had never been in a building nearly that old before, although the tour of Fama was a close second due to the dessert options.
This weekend, we got to go on our first big excursion to Tallinn! The city had so much to offer. We got to shop and dine among the beautiful buildings and cobblestones of Old Town to our hearts’ content. I loved seeing all the costumes and live music throughout the winding roads. Highlights of Old Town for me were dinner at an amazing Italian restaurant and enjoying the night life with some outstanding karaoke. We also spent some time in the Kalamaja district right next to Old Town. This area was full of cool restaurants inside of old busses and train cars, local vendors selling souvenirs and old trinkets, and lots of art. My favorite thing from the Kalamaja district was this massive warehouse thrift stop. It had clothing, shoes, books, music, and plenty more for super cheap prices. I didn’t want to leave!
On our way home from Tallinn we stopped a museum about the history of Estonia. This was super cool because if I’m being honest I didn’t know a whole lot about this country before today. We also stopped to eat lunch at a restaurant that had a giant swing which was super fun despite the concerning sounds and movements it was making with 8 fully grown students on it.
